Welcome to life! The Tide Naturally Turns – Don’t Be Caught Off Guard

Life is interesting. Whilst one person is celebrating, another is anxiously waiting on God for one thing or the other and then there is the other person who is in tears. Sometimes all of these can even be happening in one family or amongst a group of friends. This is a reality of life that we must accept, whether or not we are believers; these things happen even to the poor and to the rich. However, the wonderful thing about being a believer is the fact that during the ‘lows’ of life, one can stand on the sure word of God that He will come through though you may not know how or when He will. That sure anchor helps one ‘keep it together’ during the low times. I know that the promises of God sometimes seem like mere words but they are more than that. You may not know the difference they make until you don't have them.

Hebrews 6: 18-19 “So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”

The tide of life really does turn in every life from time to time so welcome to life! One cannot wish away or hide from such turns. I know some people who struggle to make a lot of money so that when the tide is low for them the money will act as some sort of buffer or even fix the situation; unfortunately, they find out too late that the things life throws at us are often not things that money can fix and even when they are, one is left with little or no money by the time it is all over.  Money, in itself, is a good thing to have but it can’t and should never be an anchor or the source of one’s hope. Remember, money can disappear suddenly leaving one with nothing. Indeed, it has wings and can fly away.

Ecclesiastes 3: 15 “What is happening now has happened before, and what will happen in the future has happened before, because God makes the same things happen over and over again.”

The turns in the tide of life work to keep men balanced. We have to learn to take them in our stride and not be obsessed with discovering the reasons we have ‘lows’. Sometimes, these things cannot be explained by mortal man so we just learn the most we can from every situation and move on. There is often something to learn as God continues to spin the will causing even the ‘lows’ to work good for us. I am convinced, for every believer, no matter how low it gets, it shall be high again bringing you to a better place though it may seem like this ‘low’ shall never pass. Also, you are not the only one in a ‘low’; there are other people around you who are or have been and others who will be there.

Some lows last longer than other; so don’t fret. Sometimes the turning of the tide is sudden and at other times, it is a process but you will come through because you are an overcomer. This turn in tide is just life and has nothing to do with something you did or did not do. Our first recourse is often to think that we must have offended God but it is not that. The ultimate measure of whether or not one pleases God is in the person’s end and not the way life happens to them. Please take your eyes off what is happening in other people’s life, difficult as that may be, and focus on God instead. You need all your energy to come through this ‘low’ successfully.

Psalm 73: 16 – 19 “So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is! Then I went into your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked. Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors.”

Make No Mistake About Easter - It is a Celebration of the God Head

I am so sorry for not posting any blog in that glorious week leading up to Easter. I really hope some of you looked out for my article and missed it. Lol! The thing is Easter is my season of seasons. I just love Easter. It's that season when Christians everywhere seriously call on God despite the fact of it being a celebratory season. I feel like Easter must be a season when the heavens are opened; so many people can not be calling on God through Jesus and the heavens will remain heavy. Easter reminds me of power and then speaks of the foolishness of the wisdom of man especially when he thinks he is at his smartest. Easter is for me that one season that fully describes our faith and God's expectations of us, believers.

Romans 8: 11 & 17 "The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering."

I like to think on and talk about God's display of power as He raised Jesus. I like the very elegant way that God proves His Lordship. He does not fuss, He just does what needs to be done often taking the enemy by surprise and consistently reaffirming the enemy's stupidity such that satan is always left trying to catch up with God and God carries on like nothing is happening; not even acknowledging whatever satan is doing. God just watches His own calendar and when it is time, He moves. He is totally unfazed by how much the enemy may seem to have achieved. With just one move, He puts an end to every activity of the enemy and establishes His authority and power. Our God is worthy to be worshipped.

Isaiah 55: 11 "It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it."

So this Easter story again attest to God's style of displaying His greatness.Whilst the devil was rejoicing thinking He had Jesus where He wanted Him and man in all of His wisdom, which actually was stupidity, thought the tomb was sealed so hard Jesus could not escape and then had soldiers outside the tomb to prevent external help; an angel arrived on the scene. People, only one angel totally finished everything satan working with man had been working at for days and thought they had finally concluded. God was obviously making an open show of His defeat of the enemy. Man in His foolishness had forgotten that the word of God would not return to Him void so that even the Living word had to accomplish His purpose before returning to the Father.

Mathew 28: 2-4 "Suddenly there was a great earthquake! For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled aside the stone, and sat on it. His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint."

Permit me however to talk about the return of the Master, Jesus, at this time. To my mind, one of the most precious things about Easter is the fact that in His coming He opened the door that has made it possible for us to live the life that will enable us see and be with Him when He returns. It is because of Easter that we can be called the sons of God and also have a hope that we shall be with Him in eternity. Easter is that season when we must remind ourselves that Jesus is coming again and also that there is life after death on earth. Furthermore, that you can make the decision where you spend that life here on earth. Your choice of Jesus crucified, raised from the dead and subsequent ascension is a deal breaker. It is the beginning of an assurance of life hereafter with Jesus. Easter is that season when we ought to remind ourselves that He is coming again so that as we celebrate, we are celebrating that fact of life with Him hereafter.

God Will Bring You To That Expected End

Life is amazing! Just when you think everything is getting worked out, things begin to happen that ruin everything, leaving you wondering where God is when He is right there working it all out for your good. In some circumstances, it is impossible to see how good can emanate from where one is at despite all the prophetic utterances that may have been spoken over one’s life; but, no matter how contrary life appears to be, God is working everything out for your good and you shall yet be victorious. You are not in that situation because God is unmindful of you; and you are not alone. David must have felt like that at some point in his journey to fulfilling His destiny but God ensured the fulfillment of His word despite all the odds.

2 Samuel 3: 1 “That was the beginning of a long war between those who were loyal to Saul and those loyal to David. As time passed David became stronger and stronger, while Saul’s dynasty became weaker and weaker.”

Samuel, the biggest of the prophets, had not only prophesied that David would be king but had also anointed him king yet it took a while for him to be king. After being anointed, David continued with his job as shepherd for a while. Eventually, through some turn of events, he became a man of war and even married the king’s daughter. Who knows, at that point he may have thought that being married to the king’s daughter brought him closer to the throne but as “life began to happen” to him, the marriage as well as every other thing he may have acquired was taken away from him. This was the beginning of a turn of events that seemed to take him further and further away from the throne.

As it often is in life, David was faced with seemingly good opportunities to end his problem and become king. Life always offers us shortcut solutions to our problem. Solutions which satan sometimes causes to appear like God- given opportunities and would usually seem to bring one to that place that God had promised to bring them to. So you feel very justified in taking the opportunity but deep down in you, you know it isn’t God-given and does not align with God’s will. David found himself there more than once; he could have killed Saul twice but restrained himself from doing so because he knew deep down in his heart that those were not God-given opportunities. Several other people, who found themselves in similar circumstances, took advantage of them; killing the reigning kings, they made themselves kings. Even Jesus was offered was such opportunities.

Luke 4: 5-6 “Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them the devil said because they are mine to give anyone I please, I will give it to you if you will worship me.”

Interestingly, David was not looking to be king before his encounter with Samuel. Yet he went through so much because of this role that he had not applied for but God chose him for. He ran from place to place, fought several battles and sometimes found safety only amongst strangers. Eventually God brought him into the role but not until he had suffered a lot; lost some things and won some victories all of which experiences were his preparation for the role but he was never told that neither did he think so. Who would have thought so? If anything, they must have thought he would end up a vagabond after all, kings are prepared in palaces and not caves but God was very mindful of him and working everything out for his good. That God is your God and has not changed. Where you are at may not almost describe how God intends for you to end. Remain blessed.
