Who or What Is Dictating Your Life?

Life just throws several issues at you and I. I tell you, if you do not know who you are and don’t know where you are going, you will get tossed about and end up nowhere and as nobody. Of course, you could make a lot of money but what is all that if it is money just for money sake? What sense would it make to live life without God-inspired dreams or with largely unfulfilled dreams yet with a lot of money? Of a truth life is deeper than all that and we must not wait till it is too late to find out. Unlike the prodigal son, we shall not wait till we have made a mess of everything, to ‘come to ourselves.’

I am even more certain now, though the bible already says so, that the devil is in control in the world but when we commit to the good shepherd, the devil loses control over matters concerning our lives or is unable to successfully influence our lives consistently so that He is ultimately, unable to determine the course of our lives. If you allow life itself tell you who you are or determine how you end up or what you end up as, it is the devil making the decisions for you. He controls the world and throws anything at people but if you know what your life is about, then you can throw it back at him and refuse to tolerate or accept what was never meant to be a part of your life. As believers, we must refuse to allow him determine the course of our lives.

The sad thing now is that it is clear that a number of us Christians think that having a lot of money is the height of success. There is no doubt that money is good and I will not pretend like it is isn’t; but one thing is certain, it is not the determinant of how successful a man is. It is something that successful people enjoy, because God delights in prospering His people, but it is not what makes them successful.

Jeremiah 9: 23 – 24 “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone; that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailingly love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things.”

There is a door through which man must enter in life that leads to good pasture. That door is Jesus. In Him, there is liberty to move about and there is good pasture available for our enjoyment. The pasture is very suitable food for us and also provides great comfort for rest; you can hide in it, and even lie down beside still waters. For everyone that enters in through Him, He has a predestined end and a good one at that. When we come through the door we must then learn to bring the reality of this pasture into our physical lives so that we are not tossed about by life.

John 10: 9b “Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and find good pastures.”

If we must fulfill our purpose in life, then we must make the effort to understand the purpose of God for allowing us come to earth and then saving our souls too. You can’t come so far and then end up as instruments in the hands of the devil. You can’t afford to end up like Judas. By the time, he ‘came to himself,’ it was too late. Could it be that he allowed life determine what he became so that when the devil found him an assignment, all he saw was the money?
