God Is Doing A New Thing – You Have To Reach For It

How does one know the mind of a personality/person without accessing his mind? If we can’t access the mind of God we can’t know His thoughts so how can we know what He is doing? Meanwhile, it is His desire that we know so that we prepare our hearts and be rightly positioned to tap into this new thing that is beginning to break forth. It would be sad if God lays out a table for all His children and one misses out. Interestingly, one may miss out whilst they are busy pursuing good and/or seemingly godly activities which lead them away from God because God already moved away from that activity and you were unable to perceive that He already moved from it. It is sad for a believer to miss the working of God. It is for this same reason that a certain group of people still have a problem with accepting Jesus Christ as the Messiah even today. They knew about Him but didn’t perceive that He had arrived because they were ignorant of His mode of entrance to earth. God is amazed when we remain deaf or blind to His workings and methods because He already provided all we need to access any information we need, in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 43: 19 “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?

I believe very much that God has actually begun this new thing in every area of our lives. A wave of revival has started already, can you tell? Have you noticed that God is, in a manner of speaking, making pathways through the wilderness like never before? He is not just doing them but doing them suddenly. God is giving miracles without signs. In very contrary circumstances, He does what one least expects. If you can’t tell that God is moving, then you may either be wrongly positioned or looking out for the wrong things. Please don’t look out for signs, just trust because He seems to be working suddenly and without signs like He did when suddenly the price of food dropped in Samaria. It is not too late to get properly positioned; the alternative is a major loss.

2 Kings 7: 17b – 19 “So everything happened exactly as the man of God had predicted when the king came to his house. The man of God had said to the king ‘by this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost one piece of silver. The King’s officer had replied, ‘that couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven’ and the man of God had said, ‘you will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it.’ And so it was, for the people trampled him to death.”

The king’s officer was cynical because there was no indication of what the man of God had said. Their circumstance had remained the same for so long that it looked impossible and who changes an economy so suddenly anyway? He just did not realize that God who does as He pleases, makes all things beautiful in His own time and does not need the entire world working with Him to accomplish His purpose nor does He need anyone’s permission to change whatever He desires to change. From scriptures, we find that He needs just one ‘man to stand in the gap and make the hedge.’ It is time to learn to believe the word of God again even when we see nothing. The bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. We need to trust Him to please Him and our God is searching for God pleasers that He may perfect and use them. He wants to reveal His glory in and through such persons. If Noah had not trusted enough to build an ark, He would have perished in the water though that was not God’s will for him. God isn’t going to build the ark; you have to believe Him enough to build it so that you can ultimately see the fulfilment of His word.

John 11: 40 “Jesus responded, didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?”

2 Chronicles 18: 9 “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those who hearts are fully committed to Him.”

I heard Bishop TD Jakes say and I believe that “God chooses people according to their hearts.” God searches for hearts that yearn for Him all the time. Such hearts are definitely kept informed of God’s doings on earth. God loves to let His friends into His secrets; people whose hearts desire to please Him. Unfortunately, many such persons will be ordinary people without spiritual offices but who know and love God passionately and as a result, are yielded to Him. Just knowledge of God is not enough, one needs to know Him. A heart yielded to God cannot help but see the way God sees and will as a result, love the way He does. If you love Him, you must be spending time in His presence as well as allowing yourself to be led by His Spirit. To be led by His Spirit is to simply yield to leadership of the Holy Spirit. It is to trust and obey the Spirit who is His Word.

God Is Doing A New Thing – Don’t Miss It

I feel very strongly that 2017 is the beginning of a new era. I am well aware of the fact that our calendar is not built on God’s calendar. Both Calendars are not necessarily in alignment so that the end of a year may not be an indication of the end of a season in God’s calendar and vice versa. However, for some strange reasons, I feel like the end of this past year was actually the closure of a season and this year 2017 is like a completely new season. I am just so convinced that God has started a new thing which we cannot figure out on our own so that it is best to stay tuned to God’s frequency so that you don’t miss any instructions. It would appear that we are about to walk a path that we have never walked before and so we have to really hold on tight to our guide whose name is Jesus Christ. Please do not fight me if you do not agree because this is what I perceive; it is okay to have your own perception. Please note that the fact that Jesus is the way does not make Him just the way to God for getting to heaven but He is also the way to God if we must walk in any of the benefits that is ours through Christ.

John 14: 6 “Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

So many things seem to have shifted even with what we knew to be normal; for example women close to sixty years of age getting pregnant naturally even after menopause is strange but it is happening and there are several other such things which are indicative of some form of change or shift in what we know to be God’s methodology or thought was normal. We must allow ourselves accept the reality that God is working in ways we would consider strange normally. If we don’t, we may be on the wrong side of God’s miracles. Obviously, we all want God’s actions to do us good and not harm but as with every great thing that God does, anyone wrongly positioned may suffer from it; and understanding impacts on positioning. If we are aware of the fact that He may be working differently, then we would be more careful in taking our stance.

Proverbs 18: 15 “Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.”

When God visited the home of Abraham and blessed him with Isaac; Hagar and Ishmael were driven out of the house because they lacked understanding of the great work God had done in the entire story of Isaac’s birth including even the timing. The miracle that took place in that house caught them on the ill prepared and as a result, without meaning to be cynical about God’s working, they were; and had to be cast out. In mocking Sarah, Ishmael was unwittingly mocking God who waited until Sarah was that old to give her a baby. Who knows what would have happened if they had accepted Isaac as the child of promise and had respect toward the workings of God? Obviously, they were caught on the wrong side of this miracle. I believe they did not understand God’s ways enough to understand His power and ability to accomplish whatever He desires, when He wants to and in any way He chooses to do it.

Isaiah 46: 9 – 10 “Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none like me. Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish.”

It is important to be prepared in one’s mind when God is starting a new thing. Every time He does this, it is because He wants to do us good; it will be sad if we miss out on the good He had planned which happens often because we were ill prepared to deal with Him working things out differently from the way we have always known Him to. Sarah and Abraham were so used to God’s normal that when God seemed late in giving them the promised child, she decided to help God and the world still suffers from that act today. If only they had known that God could do as He wished and was never too late. Indeed, He determines when it is late. Until He declares it late, it is not late. The only way to live at this point is to remain focused on the author and finisher of our faith. If we keep our eyes on Him, we will know His voice and apply our hearts to wisdom; the Holy Spirit guiding us in “The Way.”

Hebrews 12: 1 - 2 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.”

One principal thing we must do is forget the past. Forgetting the past includes forgetting His past method. We can’t afford to be stuck on His old method. To be open to God is to pay attention and wait on Him to see how He will do what He will do. In the course of the Israelites journey to the Promised Land, they lost a battle only because they assumed they had the appropriate battle strategy but this strategy was based on God’s previous instructions which seemed to follow a pattern. They had observed God for a while and assumed that His strategies were somehow tied to the numeric strength of their enemies’ army. They forgot that their Commander-in-chief had His own method which was based entirely on parameters that only He was aware of. We must learn to discern His voice as we walk with Him in simple obedience.

To My Dear Friend As We Enter 2017

I don’t know about you but I thank God for everyone who made it into this year 2017 and that includes you and I. I know several people don’t understand the fact that I am so grateful because it would seem like there is hardly anything good happening in the world right now. Indeed everything appears to be upside down such that sad news is no more shocking. It is almost as if peace is eluding the Countries of the world as almost no day passes without one horrible thing happening in one Country or the other; people are killed just like they are mere animals and the wicked seem to be having the best of life whilst those whose hearts are toward God seem to struggle. Indeed, in my own part of the World, apart from all the ungodly killing going on, the economic climate is extremely challenging; we face times that we were ill prepared for. It is almost like we woke up one day and everything was upside down. We were completely taken by surprise at the seemingly unending downward slide of our economy but through it all, we must admit that God has been with us otherwise how did we come through tough as it has been?

Psalm 23: 4 “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.”

At this point, I know that you may have settled in these present times making adjustments in your mind that make it easy for you to live in these present evil times because as we often say, we must accept our reality and then move forward from there; but the problem is that we don’t move forward. I have found that we don’t move forward from there because we not only accept it as reality, it also becomes our focus. We live and breathe this reality. I also discovered that our minds like to focus on what we consider reality. It is a struggle to keep our eyes on God if He is not our reality. No wonder a number of people I meet have no good thing to say about God right now though they are believers. Without meaning to, such persons blame God for every terrible thing going on. Though some accept that it may not have been instigated by Him they still blame Him for doing nothing about it. This misplacement of focus has made many murmurers and complainers; they forget that murmuring and complaining only serves to keep God whom they need, away from them which is the desire of the devil who is the mastermind of all this pain.

1 Corinthians 10: 10 - 11 “And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. These things happened to them as examples for us.”

I understand that it is easy to settle. Indeed, it is like telling one’s self the truth because it does not make sense to deceive one’s self. Recently though, I have really started to question my reality – what really is my reality? This has brought me to the realization that I have things a little muddled up myself. My reality is not what is going on around me; it is what the Word of God says which I like sometimes and find really difficult to accept at other times.  That is my reality. I have to keep reminding myself that what we currently experience is a distortion of our reality which is God’s truth concerning us and our circumstance. We have to realize and accept that we are not living our reality for us to desire to do so; if we think we are, then why desire another? I have decided that I must not “dummy down” just so that I can live happily. It is like accepting sickness and disease because the doctor said so; we have to fight and our fight is based on what God says about us. It takes a deliberateness to keep our eyes on our reality which is God’s word. It is a decision to live on earth but by a different set of rules or indeed a completely different lifestyle which is not “earth like.” It is a lifestyle that takes one above the circumstances that exist around them and they live that lifestyle that only exist in heavenly places on earth. It is lifestyle that only The Good shepherd can provide.

Psalm 23: 1 “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need.”

John 14: 6 “Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

I must leave you with this word as we begin this New Year - it is time to, like the man Job, trust God again despite all the difficulties we may be going through and also watch our words carefully just like he did. We must be careful not to directly or indirectly curse God. The accuser of the brethren makes it tougher and tougher whilst he watches for our words just to see if we will curse our God. We have to ensure that the things we say are not controlled by our circumstances or our feelings; they must be what we want to say which I believe would be guided by the word of God. I know, my dear friend, that you are a believer in Christ so if you think your words through, they will be so right that they will only annoy satan and give God glory because we are what we think in our hearts. You are not just a believer outwardly but one inwardly so please be careful for these difficulties too shall pass and has indeed passed.
