Most believers are of the opinion that nothing bad should
happen to a believer. We act like God ought to be grateful we chose to accept
Him as our God and in return, keep the challenges of life away from us so that
we are surprised and angry with Him when "life" happens. We complain
and murmur so much that we frustrate God making it more difficult for us to get
out of these challenges that life throws at us sometimes and all this because
we are totally unprepared for the reality of life having deceived ourselves
into believing that only good must come our away forgetting that His promise is
to cause all things to work for our good.
Romans 8: 28 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
Some people wake up from the initial shock of having to deal with these challenges but some never do and such people believe that these situations are enough reason to turn away from Him. My question is this - who do you then turn to after having lived and moved in Him?The truth is there is no reason good enough for turning away from Him especially if you have tasted of His goodness. One thing I know for certain is that no matter how bad the situation you may find yourself in, He will bring you out. Even where He had nothing to do with your getting into that situation, He is big hearted enough to bring you out. We just need to be patient.
2 Peter 2: 9 "So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment."
Life happens even if you decide to hide deep in the midst of believers. Indeed, life would most likely work through them to create that very painful issue. No one can be shielded from "life" even if they spend all their time in the house of God. Please note that I am not talking about the issues you face because you are a believer but life's issues that everyone faces. Unfortunately, believers will still face persecutions that arise just because they are saved and all that appear to make his/her life tougher. However, we must remember the word of God that says "we are more than conquerors"
Romans 8: 37 "No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us."
It is sad that the word preached in churches today is often not the true gospel so it does not prepare us for life like the true word would; however, everyone has a responsibility to themselves to seek the truth. God has promised that if we seek Him, we will find Him which is a promise made to everyone and not just to preachers or ministers so you owe it to yourself to seek Him that He may help you prepare to face life. Life is like a jungle and only the strong will survive. Thank God who made us in his image and likeness so that we are also lions supernaturally empowered by God.
1Samuel 30: 6 "David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the LORD his God."
We truly ought not to give up in any situation. God is a restorer so He knows how to work it for your good. Your wallowing in self-pity will not bring about a change in the situation and if you turn away from God, you only are burying yourself deeper in the bad situation. Some people have walked this route as a result of which they lost their joy and others their life. When life happens, like David we have to learn to encourage ourselves in The Lord. Tough times come and go but strong men remain. These are men and women who have buried themselves on the word of God and love him enough to try to be true to what His word says.
Daniel 11: 32b "But the people who know their God will be strong and will resist him."
